CirculationContactThe Circulation Desk can be reached by calling (541) 346-3088. Borrowing PrivilegesFaculty, staff and students who are currently employed or enrolled at the University of Oregon may borrow materials from the collections of the Unversity of Oregon Libraries. Members of the public may acquire borrowing privileges through the Oregon Card Program. Under the Oregon Card program any Oregon resident may gain borrowing privileges using a valid public library card or may purchase an Oregon Card for $5.00 at the Circulation Desk. Current faculty, staff, and students from other Summit and OUS schools, and from Lane Community College and Northwest Christian College, have borrowing privileges through reciprocal lending agreements. No person may borrow library material using another person's card. Faculty may appoint one UO-affiliated proxy. When charging Library material in the name of the faculty, the proxy must show his/her validated UO ID card, and proxy card. Loan PeriodsWhile some Law Library material circulates for regular loan periods, most of the collection is non-circulating or circulates for only 2 hours.
RecallsGeneral material will be recalled for anyone who needs an item currently checked out to another borrower. Material is subject to recall at any time. Borrowers will be notified if books have been recalled from them. The overdue fine for recalled material is $3.00 per item per day. Recalls may be done in person, at the Law Library Circulation Desk, or via the UO Library Catalog. Renewals of Borrowed MaterialGeneral material may be renewed once. Borrowers may renew their own books in person at the Law Library Circulation Desk, by phoning the Desk at (541) 346-3088, or by using the "View Your Library Account" option available in the UO Library Catalog. If material is still needed after one renewal, it must be returned to the Circulation Desk and checked out again (recharged). Borrowers' ResponsibilitiesBorrowers are responsible for material checked out in their names. No one may use another person's I.D. or library card to check out materials. It is the responsibility of each borrower to inform the Library of a change of mailing address, telephone number, or e-mail address. Borrowers should inform the Library if their I.D. cards or library cards are lost or stolen. It is the responsibility of the borrower to note the time or date that material is due. Overdue notices are sent as a courtesy. Failure to receive these notices does not remove the borrower's obligation to return material by the due date or the recall due date, nor does it constitute grounds for reducing a borrower's fine. If a borrower plans to be out of town, s/he should return borrowed items or arrange with someone to receive notices and return recalled material. The UO libraries are open during intersessions to serve the needs of patrons who remain on campus: recalled items may be due any time the libraries are open. Fines
Replacement/Repair CostsAny borrower who fails to return library material in a timely manner or returns it in damaged condition will be charged lost book fees or repair charges, plus any accrued fines, plus a $15.00 service charge per item.
